Receipt to Excel for Expense Tracking
Collecting receipts for expense reports or taxes usually ends with typing amounts into a spreadsheet. Many receipts today arrive as PDFs – from online shops, ride services, hotels and subscriptions. Those digital receipts contain real text and can be converted to Excel right now.
Paper receipts and photos need OCR.

A simple expense sheet
After converting, copy the date, vendor and total of each receipt into one sheet with the columns Date, Vendor, Category and Amount. Because amounts are real numbers, a single =SUM() gives you the total for the month.
