Why convert BMP to PDF?
BMP stores every pixel uncompressed, so even a single screenshot can be several megabytes – too big for many email accounts and upload forms, and some of them don't accept BMP at all. In the PDF, each bitmap is stored losslessly compressed, which usually makes the file considerably smaller without changing a single pixel.
Typical uses
Every image is placed on its own page, centred and scaled to fit A4 or US Letter. The order of the list is the order of the pages. If you need the image as a picture rather than a PDF, convert it to PNG with an image editor first.
- Drawings and diagrams made in Microsoft Paint.
- Scans from older scanner software that saves BMP by default.
- Screenshots from older Windows programs and machine software.
About BMP and PDF files
- BMP
- BMP is an uncompressed Windows bitmap format. BMP files are large, and many websites and apps don't accept them.
- PDF (Portable Document Format)
- PDF files look the same on every device and are the standard for invoices, statements, contracts and reports. Digital PDFs store real text; scanned PDFs store images of pages. All PDF tools →

BMP to PDF – frequently asked questions
Will the PDF be smaller than the BMP?
Usually yes. The image is stored with lossless compression, so the PDF is often much smaller than the uncompressed BMP.
Does the quality change?
No. The pixels stay exactly the same; the image is only scaled to fit the page.
Can I put several BMPs into one PDF?
Yes. Add them all, sort them with the arrows and convert – each BMP becomes one page.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser; the images stay on your device.
