From vector to pixels
An SVG describes shapes, so it can be drawn at any size without getting blurry. Many programs, upload forms and social networks still expect pixel images, though. The converter draws your SVG at the chosen size and saves it as PNG, so edges stay crisp and transparent areas stay transparent.
The size is based on the width and height in the SVG (or its viewBox). 2× doubles both, 4× quadruples them – useful for printing or for large slides. Very large results are limited to 8,000 pixels per side.
Limits of SVG in the browser
- Fonts that are not embedded in the SVG are replaced by a similar system font.
- Images linked from other websites inside the SVG are not loaded.
- Scripts and animations in the SVG are ignored – you get a still image.
About SVG and PNG files
- SVG
- SVG is a vector format for logos, icons and illustrations. It describes shapes instead of pixels, so it stays sharp at any size – but many apps and upload forms only accept pixel images.
- PNG
- PNG is a lossless image format that keeps text and sharp edges crisp. Most screenshots are saved as PNG, and it supports transparent backgrounds.

SVG to PNG – frequently asked questions
How do I get a high-resolution PNG from an SVG?
Choose 2× or 4× before converting. The SVG is drawn at that size, so the PNG stays sharp.
Is the background transparent?
Yes. Areas without content in the SVG stay transparent in the PNG.
Why does the text look different?
If the SVG uses a font that isn't embedded in the file, the browser uses a similar font. Convert text to paths in your design tool to keep the exact look.
Is it safe to convert an SVG from someone else?
The SVG is drawn as an image, so scripts inside it are not run, and it never leaves your device.
