Convert a PDF Bank Statement to CSV for Import
Budgeting apps and accounting software usually import transactions as CSV, but some banks only give you a PDF statement – especially for older periods or closed accounts. PDFConvertFast turns the transactions in that PDF into a CSV file you can prepare for import.
Your statement is converted in your browser and never uploaded. This works with statements downloaded as PDF from online banking; scanned or photographed statements are not supported.
Your files stay on your device. Conversions run in your browser.
Works best with digital PDFs that contain selectable text or tables. Scanned PDFs may need OCR.

From PDF statement to importable CSV
- Convert the statement – the converter below is already set to CSV.
- Open the CSV and delete everything that isn't a transaction: the bank's address block, balances and page footers.
- Keep one header row such as Date, Description, Amount.
- In your software's import screen, map those columns to its date, payee and amount fields.
Things to check before importing
- Dates stay exactly as printed on the statement. Tell the import tool which date format your bank uses.
- Plain amounts like -45.00 or 1,234.50 are written as numbers; amounts with a currency sign or a “CR”/“DR” marker can stay as text and need cleaning.
- Some banks print debits and credits in two separate columns – the CSV keeps that layout.
If your bank offers a CSV export
A CSV export from online banking is always cleaner than converting a PDF. Use this page when that export isn't available, for example for statements from previous years.

PDF bank statement to CSV – questions and answers
Can every budgeting or accounting app import the CSV?
Most apps accept CSV, but each expects its own columns. You will usually map the date, description and amount columns once in the app's import screen.
Why do I have to remove some rows?
A PDF statement also contains the bank's address, balances and page footers. PDFConvertFast converts everything on the page, so delete these rows and keep only the transactions.
Is my bank statement uploaded?
No. The PDF is converted in your browser and stays on your device. Nothing is stored.
What about scanned bank statements?
They are not supported. Scanned statements are images, and PDFConvertFast has no OCR. Download the statement as PDF from your online banking instead.
