Utility Bills to Excel: Track Your Energy and Water Costs
Electricity, gas and water bills arrive as PDFs every month or quarter. Each one has a small table with meter readings, consumption, unit prices and charges. Getting those numbers into Excel lets you compare periods, spot rising costs and check that the bills add up.
PDFConvertFast converts digital PDF bills from your supplier's customer portal or email into a spreadsheet, in your browser. Paper bills that you scanned or photographed are not supported, because they contain no text that can be read.

What you get from a bill
- The charges table as rows and columns: period, consumption, unit price and amount.
- Meter readings and consumption as numbers, ready for charts.
- The address block and fine print as separate text rows that you can delete.
Build a yearly cost tracker
Convert each bill, then copy the billing period, consumption and total into one tracking sheet with one row per bill. A line chart of consumption per month shows seasonal patterns, and comparing unit prices shows when your tariff changed.
Convert the bills one PDF at a time; there is no limit on how many you convert.

Utility bill to Excel – questions and answers
Which utility bills work?
Digital PDF bills – the ones you download from your supplier's portal or receive by email. If you can select text in the PDF, it will convert. Scanned paper bills are not supported.
Can I convert a whole year of bills at once?
One PDF at a time. Convert each bill and paste the rows you need into one sheet – that gives you a clean overview of the whole year.
Will the totals be numbers in Excel?
Plain numbers such as 1,234.50 or 85.20 become real numbers. Values printed together with a currency symbol or unit (for example €85.20 or 350kWh) can stay as text and can be cleaned up with Find & Replace.
Are my bills and address uploaded?
No. The bill is converted in your browser, so your address and account number stay on your device.
